Randy Brecker and Pioneers For A Cure release 'Ballad of John Henry' on iTunes to Fight Cancer

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 28, 2011

Pioneers For A Cure is pleased to announce the iTunes release of the American classic 'Ballad of John Henry' by Grammy Award-winning jazz trumpeter Randy Brecker. Brecker has selected the National Marrow Donor Program - Be The Match to benefit from proceeds from sales of the single, an advance release for the Pioneers For A Cure 'American Collection' in October 2011.

The song can be found on iTunes at http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/pioneers-for-a-cure-ballad/id445655596.

"It was an honor to be asked to participate in Pioneers for a Cure. Not only did I lose my brother Michael Brecker to MDS/Leukemia, we also lost both of our parents to similar blood cancers. This is a very important issue, one to which I hope many people will contribute. We're making inroads, but we have a long way to go to fully eradicate Cancer," said Brecker.

Randy Brecker has been shaping the sound of Jazz, R&B and Rock for more than four decades. His trumpet and flugelhorn performances have graced hundreds of albums by a wide range of artists from James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen and Parliament-Funkadelic to Frank Sinatra, Steely Dan, David Sanborn, Jaco Pastorius, Horace Silver and Frank Zappa. In 2007 he was awarded his fourth Grammy for "Randy Brecker Live with the WDR Big Band," (Telarc/BHM) the live recording (also available in DVD format) of his performance at the Leverkusen Jazz Fest in 2004.

CAN to release potentially revolutionary new website on July 4

Copperopolis, CA (PRWEB) June 29, 2011

The Civil Action Network (CAN), an independent media organization, is excited to announce the launch of its new website this July 4:

http://www.CivilActionNetwork.org

featuring revolutionary concepts in news publishing and social governance. Primarily through independent referendum and news, CAN hopes to create an online community organized around peaceful civil action and sustainable living. In much the same way that wikipedia challenges for-profit encyclopedias, CANs new public-domain platform empowers a distributed network of individual users to author and upload complete news stories, referendum, position papers, and more from their own perspectives.

The new system is more than just a network of blogs. With this launch, CAN also debuts a new quality control system for user generated content that is democratized. Contributors to the CAN news site must pass through screening by daily CAN readers before being granted full access to the publishing system. This allows CAN readers to dictate the writing quality and, to some extent, the subject matter coverage that they expect in their news. The system is so decentralized that not even the CAN founders are exempt from this process. Comments Paul Lacey, product marketing engineer and co-founder of CAN, I cant wait to get kicked off my own site!

CANs referenda system is also potentially revolutionary. Participants can express their views by writing and voting on informally proposed laws. Should a referendum through CAN garner a high level of support, it would be forwarded to the appropriate authorities for consideration with accountability updates provided to the authors and supporters of the measure.

Comments Greg Glaser, attorney at law and founder of CAN, This is a forum where people can vote for change, even fundamental change. By linking together news, referenda, and community building features, CAN encourages individuals to voice their opinions and propose peaceful solutions to the problems we face. Perhaps you agree with me that war games and environmental contamination and debt are spiraling out of control. And if so, perhaps youll also agree with my proposed referenda.

About CAN:

Founded in 2008, and headquartered on a sustainability-oriented ranch in Copperopolis, California, the Civil Action Network (CAN) is an independent media organization operated by Greg Glaser to expose the real causes behind the crises we face, and empower individuals to choose sustainable solutions. With both original and re-sourced content, CAN hopes to focus a lens on the realities of our world rather than propaganda and other distortions. We seek to present evidence that throughout history, many people, businesses, and nations have profited by harming others unfairly, so sovereign nations should endeavor to perform restorative justice. Our goal is to promote justice, liberty and sustainable living.

2entertain Announce Release of An Idiot Abroad on DVD

London, England (PRWEB) November 14, 2010

2entertain has announced that 'An Idiot Abroad' will be released on DVD in time for customers to pick it up for Christmas.

Straight from its debut on Sky 1, An Idiot Abroad (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Karl-Pilkingtons-Idiot-Abroad-DVD/dp/B003Y734AO/ref=sr_tr_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1288884524&sr=1-1) follows the star of The Ricky Gervais Show, Karl Pilkington, as he undertakes a journey of a lifetime. British comedy legends Ricky Gervais (http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=280;0;-1;-1;-1&sku=907500 ) and Stephen Merchant throw down the gauntlet to send Karl around the globe to force him out of his comfort zone. Stephen wants the experience to broaden Karl's mind and change his outlook on the world but Ricky wants Karl to hate every minute of it for his own amusement.

Dispatched on what many would term a journey of a lifetime, the 'little Englander' will be putting his misgivings to one side as Karl finds out for himself what the fuss is about. He will travel to the Great Wall of China, Christ the Redeemer in Brazil, Petra in Jordan, Machu Picchu in Peru, Chichen Itza in Mexico, the Taj Mahal in India and the Great Pyramids of Egypt. Meanwhile Gervais and Merchant will be keeping a watchful eye from London, monitoring every step of Pilkington's journey.

The conclusion of the series will see the weary traveller returning home to report on his findings. Karl Pilkington (http://www.bbcshop.com/travel/an-idiot-abroad-dvd/invt/2edvd0577) commented: "They all laughed at Columbus when he said the world was round. Now Ricky wants people to laugh at me because my head is round. I'm Karlumbus. Thing is, I've seen places that Ricky will probably never see in his life so I suppose I get the last laugh. Mind you, if he suddenly got into the idea of travel I would tell him not to bother with China or Egypt."

Uniquely funny and often hilarious, An Idiot Abroad (http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/15847095/Karl-Pilkington-An-Idiot-Abroad/Product.html) will be available on DVD and Blu Ray from the 15th November.
